Drive from Dehradun through the beautiful Tons valley to the base camp at Dhaula.
Hydrate well during the long drive.
A moderate walk along the Rupin river, passing through apple orchards and crossing into Himachal Pradesh.
Visit the famous Kinnauri temple in Sewa village.
Trek on a steep trail through dense forests to reach the hanging village of Jhaka.
The trail can be slippery; watch your step.
Walk through pine and rhododendron forests, opening up into the beautiful meadows of Saruwas Thatch.
Enjoy the first clear views of the Rupin waterfall.
A spectacular walk through a U-shaped glacial valley to camp right below the majestic Rupin waterfall.

A steep, challenging climb alongside the waterfall to reach the advanced base camp.
Pace yourself; the altitude gain is rapid.
The longest day. Climb a steep snow gully to the 15,250 ft pass, then a sharp descent into the Kinnaur valley.
Follow the guide's footsteps carefully in the snow gully.

Usually, there is very little to no snow on the trail in Sep/Oct. If you want snow, May/June is the best time.
